We are doing a number of deployments lately of home access systems and we wanted to make it clear that we do not install any software that spies on you or your child at school or at home.

You can use your laptop safely knowing you are in full control and as a third party we fully respect your privacy. We are announcing this purely on the back of this article to ensure parents and pupils remain confident and trusting in using any technology provided by the schools we work with!

Please get in touch if you have any concerns or queries.

Alternatively if you have any child protection concerns then please visit CEOP
We migrated to some new servers yesterday and at 7:30am today the ISP hosting the server began having issues, we are waiting on an update to the situation. We will keep you posted with updates as we receive them. This is now resolved
Primary Pad is now available worldwide and has a 6 month trial option available for professional accounts.

Initially Primary Pad was designed for UK primary schools but worldwide demand and demand from secondary schools has twisted our arm.

What makes Primary Pad different from Etherpad?

Yet again we need your help! We are going to be able to re-open pro account registration for Primary Pad and we want to know how long you think the free trial accounts should exist for? When the free trial duration has ended the school can either pay to continue to use Primary Pad or use an alternative solution or keep using the free basic pads. :)

Thanks for everyone who voted on the last poll, basic accounts are now restricted to 6 active users.

We are currently working on testing our fail-over systems so we may have some downtime of the following services:
  1. Safe Search
  2. Primary Games Arena
  3. Primary School Teaching
  4. My School Closures
  5. My School Holidays
  6. Primary Technology CRM
We will be working on this all night to ensure stability
Today the memory went out to the primary pad server, giving us some more resources to play with. We are super happy :) Yay!!! Expect stability to be the norm now, and if you are following us on twitter then expect more requests for stress tests!
Want to hide the chat/sidebar from users when they connect? We made it really easy for you!

Simply add ?sidebar=0 to the end of your PAD url, IE http://primarypad.com/test?sidebar=0

Enjoy! :)

PS The same goes for embedding

Free account registration is currently closed due to over subscription. Primary Pad was starting to become unstable. We are awaiting more resources but then we have to pay for more resources so we can’t afford to keep giving it away for free. Sorry if that seems unfair to you but we are trying our best. I don’t know if we will be able to re-open free pro registration, I wish we could!

The Memory is now due on the 10/02/2010. We are at the mercy of a hosting partner that is providing hosting for free but that means we have to wait a while for any hardware changes.

This is new technology and very experimental, we don’t even know how well it will scale(yet) and until we do it’s best we are honest with our users and ask for your patience. We hope that by March we will know more about the pricing options we can offer for schools. In our ideal world, a Primary School package would be £300 and a Secondary, £800. How does this pricing model sound to you?

Lots of users (nearly 40%) registered but never created any pads, these accounts have been removed. We plan to leave the other existing pro accounts in place with no changes.

Public pads are still free, so have fun :)
We have temporarily disabled new pro account sign ups and disabled all accounts that registered and never logged in.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused. We are doing this to ensure only educational users use the service.
